The Zombo District Farm Institute (DFI) is located in Zue County. It is a training and demonstration institute for the Zombo agricultural community. It was opened in early 1970s, however due to the war during that time it got demolished and rebuilt when Zombo become independent district in 2009 and it has been in continuous operation ever since. There have been several upgrades of the institute that include infrastructure, courses materials and training skills workshops for farmers in and around Zombo most especially the youth.
DFI is an Agricultural school created by the foundation board to help improve and increase Agricultural productivity in this region and Strengthen Agricultural Education sector as a whole.
The institute aims at improving the livelihood of the local people by engaging in Agriculture and integrated farming and environmental conservation of the west nile region.
- To establish as a specialized agricultural training centre to equip the young people of Zombo with practical modern and professional production skills and techniques in Agriculture.
- To organize short courses, seminars, workshops, conferences and tailored training programmes for target groups engaged in Agricultural production.
- To facilitate and implement training and skills Development, to allow young people acquire useful practical skills in value Addition, in order to promote and enhance business Development.
- To help create employment opportunities by facilitating the introduction of small scale enterprise especially in the field of Agriculture, fishing, forestry and help them market their output
